Over the past few week, I have learned a few things, a healthy mind leads to a healthy body.

I have learned this as you may have read before that I am not in the best mindstate when working. I am feeling very overwhelmed not with the job its self but with having to get a family ready and making it to the job on time.

I though starting a new workout routine would help with releasing some of my stress and making me feel good about myself. The workout routine has helped with one of the two, I am starting to feel great about myself and the good changes I am doing for the body. I am so happy that I have it in me to workout almost every evening and burn some calories.

As for the first part, The STRESS! That has not gone away at all. I still feel like I am going crazy every morning trying to get my kids out the door ready for school. Trying not to be late to a job, that in the end is not keeping my attention as my mind wonders throughout the day. And when that happens I feel like more stress has just hit me. The house is a mess and I never have time to clean. We are not eating meals when I want us to or eating as a family like we used to. I am just putting myself down more and more. that is not something that I want or need.

I don’t know at this time how to change these thoughts or a to break free from them stress. I have heard that sometimes just writing it down and talking about it can help.

As I have now written down some thoughts I now have to take the next step to change them. The wondering mind to me is the first step that needs to be changed. As you may have read my past post on why I am feeling the stress and wondering mind and am trying to change it one step at a time.

The road to happiness is the road I want to be on.

Life Changes

The other day as i was scrolling through Instagram and saw this quote that really hit me hard with how I am feeling. The quote read “Nothing is worth it if your aren’t happy” Posted by Motivation Monday.

These word hit me, because for some parts of my life I feel like its not worth it and i am not putting my 100% into it.

The truth is my job is dragging me down and I am in need of a way out. I am not happy with where I am currently employed and because of this I feel like its not worth coming in to.

I have talked with friends and family and they keep saying I should find a new place of employment. Yes, that is what I would like to do I just don’t know how to take that step. The step i am having the problem with is do i want to stay where i am in the same position and maybe take the chance of feeling the say way with my next employer or do i change fields.  My heart said i need to changes fields and start something new and this is where I am having The problem, What should my change be. I want to do something that will keep me busy and motivated to want to get up and get out of the house. No something that makes me cry on the way to work.

So my plan is to jump, take a leap and hopefully do well with my next career move. I know that I don’t want to do something that includes sitting behind a desk all day and thinking about the other places I would rather be. Because to me that is the quote “Nothing is worth it if your aren’t happy” My happy would be, being active and always moving. Lets see what I can find.

If any one has taken the leap and changed careers to better them self please share. I would love to hear what you are doing now.

 

15 Days

I am 15 days into my goal of trying to loose 10 lbs and I feel am doing great at keeping up with a workout routine. I have lost 5 lbs at the half way point and to me that is a good track record.

To me the first 5 lbs was the easy part, the next 5 lbs it what is going to be the challenge. More reps will be needed to keep this weight loss going.

Time to keep of the good work!!

 

 

10 Pounds

 

My goal this month is to be down 10 pounds.

Last month I got myself into a good workout routine. Now that I have started that my next plan is to started a good diet and to pick up the routine so that it will help me start to lose weight and build muscle.

For the month of June, I am going to try the advance 30-day challenge. I am hoping that I can complete this and with a balance, diet loses the 10 pounds.

I will do weight ins weekly to let you know how the challenge is going. Wish me luck because I am going to need it.
To be honest I have never been able to complete a weight loss. I have gotten close to the goal weight and then end up failing. As I will be having to check in, I am hoping this will keep me going as sometimes I need a little push and this blog will be it.

Let’s go 10 lbs, you can get lost!!!

My Fitness Challenge

 

As the month comes to an end I am almost finished with my 30-day fitness challenge. The highlights from this challenge for me is that my stamina is a lot longer. I can now last the reps that are required and feel like I can do a few more. I am also not finding it so hard to get started and that my body wants the workout.

During this past couple of weeks, the Easy 30 Day Challenge wasn’t enough so I also added in a beginner 8 pose yoga routine. This routine was a combination of the child’s pose, downward- facing dog pose, cobra pose, warrior pose 1 & 2, cow pose, Garland pose and the bridge pose. Doing these two routines together really helps with building my strength and balance. I also added a weighted ball to my routine just to give some resistance.

I am going to keep this routine up until the end of the month and move on to the next challenge level. With the next level, I am hoping that I can start losing some weight and building some muscle mass. I knew that wouldn’t come with my first month, as I really just want to build a stamina and be able to get through a full month of working out and enjoying it. now that I have almost accomplished that I can move on and set a new goal.

Working in an office all day has a big downfall for when trying to say fit as the cubical life is really not made for an active body.

I have been doing a little research on the best ways to keep the body moving during the day. There are some great ones out there, but when you work in an office where you are all in one area some of the exercise could get a little distracting to others.

Here are a few movements that can keep you moving and not distract your fellow employees while sitting in your chair.

  1. Leg Lifts; Lift your legs so they are straight. Hold for 10 seconds and slowly bring them back down. – You should feel a good stretch in the back of you legs. Do about 10 reps of these with pointed and flexed feet.
  2. Legs Lifts; Part 2; This is similar to the above leg lifts. Lift one leg straight. Hold for a 10 seconds and slowly bring the leg back down. Switch Legs. Do about 10 reps of these with both pointed and flexed feet.
  3. Heel Press; Put your feet in a position like you would be standing on the balls of your feet. slowly Press your heel down with one foot then switch. Do 10 to 20 reps of these.
  4. Knee Bends; Lift your legs up and slowly bend your knees towards your chest. Do about 10 reps of these. This is excellent for the abs
  5. Knee Press; Lift one foot to the Chair (if you do not have a skirt on) wrap you arms around you leg and slowly press towards your chest. Hold for 10 Seconds. Release and do the same with the other foot.
  6. Body Twist; Slowly rotate your body from side to side holding for 3 seconds on each side. Do 20 Reps of these.
  7. Arm Lifts/Swings; If you are OK with attracting a little attention hold your arms straight out to the side of you and slowly swing them to the front hold and then back to the side. Do about 20 reps of these.
  8. Arm Stretch; Lift arm above your head, lock your fingers together and stretch towards the sky. hold for 5 Seconds and release. do 10 reps of these.

 

Now you can feel better about yourself and body and you are keeping active through out the day while sitting in your chair.

Long Weekend Fun!

Can working-out while away be a difficult?

This weekend is Victoria Day long weekend and my family and I will be heading to our home away from home. Our little weekend get away place.  Or as most of you would call it our summer trailer.

Most summers I just try to relax and enjoy myself while I am away. This summer I am making it my goal to stay active!

Being at the trailer should really be the easiest place for me to stay active. My family and I are outside most days and usually play down by the water.

My goal this summer will be to go for a walk every morning. A little hike around the park to see whats going on. I am also going to plan to swim every day as well. They say swimming is one of the best exercise and I am going to use that to my advantage. Plus it will keep me cool on those hot day. I may even play a little soccer with my boy to keep the heart rate up. They love to have fun and why not stay fit while doing it!

What kids of tips do you have for staying fit and active while away?

I can tell you that there will be no yoga on the field as I am a little shy to be doing it in public yet. Maybe one day i can get to it.

Positive

” One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day”

I saw this quote pop up one morning on Instagram and after a few days I could not I realized how true it is. If you walk out your door and start your day on a negative side, your whole day will follow like a domino affect.

The reason for knowing this statement is true, is because this is me. I am one of those people that sometimes wakes up with a negative thoughts or attitude and it really ruins my whole day. I just think why do i have to get up? Why do i have to go to that stupid job? Why do i have to get the kids ready this morning? Why me?

I need to start waking up thinking that this day is going to be great! My job is great! My family is the best! My life is wonderful!

The easiest way to start this whole process of positive thinking may be just waking up on a Monday and saying this week is going to be great!

Yes, I agree Mondays can feel like the worst worst day, but if we start wake up thinking they are the best maybe they will be. Maybe they are the beginning of a new amazing week ahead. Why cant Mondays be great. They may just change our approach on the whole week ahead.

That job that sucks, that feels like its weighing you down. Start thinking that you are the best person for that position. You are the one that has all the knowledge, all the ideas, all the skills. Your company though so when they hired yous so you need to think so.

The people you work with, who you see more than anyone else when you really think of it, are great friends. They are the ones that are going to help picking you up when you are down at the office, or maybe its the other way around. You are helping pick them up from feeling down. Pass the positive energy and the off and the whole office could be thanking you.

If you really dislike your job and need out, then start thinking about in a positive way. If you think the job sucks and you will never find a new one then that will be your reality. If you want out do it in a positive way. Update your resume and start thinking that you are the next best hire out there. You are the one! The one that is going to change that company around. The one that is going to get that next interview you have. The one and only for the job.

Family life, Talk to you kids with a positive attitude. Tell them how great they are. How great of a family you are together. I know deep down inside that my family is not perfect but we love each other and cheer each other on. We are our number one supports for every thing. My kids know that they can count on my husband and i to always be there for them. And to your spouse, how much you love them. How they are one of the best things in your life. How you love doing things for them and you love receiving things from them in return. Even if its just a hug. They always say a little goes a long way.

So I am going to end this off by saying, think positive about yourself. Wake up tomorrow morning thinking you got this, and today is going to be an amazing day! If you do it with a smile on your face, I bet that smile stays all day and you will even get a few smiles in return.

Water

I have never been much of a water drinker. I was and still am one of those people that like a little flavor in my drink, so I always opted for the Juice. Yes, I know that is such a bad idea not only the sugar contact but all the acids I was drinking as well.

Now that I am going for the full change I have started drinking a lot more water. I am now getting the full daily dose of 8, 8 oz glasses or more sometime. I can’t believe the change I have noticed from it. First off I have noticed I am not as hungry as I used to be. I used to be a big snacker and now not as many snacks are being eaten by me. I have also noticed that my skin is starting to change just a bit. It is not a dry as it used to be. I always have had very dry skin and felt no cream was doing the trick.  Now just drinking a ton of water daily it has noticed that it is much more hydrated and not so flaky as it used to be.
I started my water intake by buying a bottle that has measurements on the side. it was a great way to let me know how much water I was in taking per day. For me, it was something that was needed.
I know when you purchase the water bottle it tells you but seeing on the side for me was key. I saw how much I drank in a gulp to how many more bottles I need to drink to have the recommended amount of water.
It has worked out great and now I am drinking the right amount of water each day. I still love to have my fruity tasty drinks but now that I drink way more water those sugar drinks have been cut in half and that is added to my road to a healthier life. Less sugar, less fat, less weight, more muscle.

Yoga Newbie

I wanted to add a little more to my workout plan and thought that yoga would be the perfect fit as it is strength and stretch all in one. I have done some yoga classes in the past but let put it this way I am still very much a beginner.

So being a beginner in the yoga world I have been on the hunt for some great first-time yoga tips and I have to say I have found some good ones that I want to share. all of the ones I have found can be done in the comfort of your own home. So no need to worry about having a crazy life and feel like you can’t make those classes. Or thinking that everyone in the class is going to be better than you. This way you can work at your own pace and build your strength and flexibly.

Here are some of the top yoga poses for beginners that most yogis recommend.

  1. The Child’s Pose
  2. Downward Facing Dog
  3. Upward Facing Dog
  4. Warrior Pose  1 & 2
  5. Triangle Pose
  6. Wide Leg Forward Fold
  7. Superman Pose
  8. Chair Pose
  9. Bridge Pose
  10. Plank Pose

All these poses are great and you get a full body workout.

I was able to get them to all flow into a really nice routine and had a good hold on each pose for around 10 – 30 seconds depending on my flexibility. I started off with the Childs pose as that was a good one to work into the rest and get the muscle loose and warmed up. When doing your routine try to do a few reps of each pose to get the full effect and don’t forget to do both the right and the left side when needed.
